India is a nation which is divided with regards to society. On the basis of region, depending upon costumes & people, based upon caste, there is some tribal community which comes under underprivileged group. You can find those tribal people with arrows in their hand, wings on head and tribal semi-naked, the picturesque look itself brings them as tribal people. There are folks who are regarded intellectually in the nation as they have difficulty in conversing and understanding Hindi, who usually show demonism and vandalism. Moreover, for the past few years time, people belonging to this community has not been much educated but has been connected with the government for the youth welfare of their society and for their bright future.

During the carnival, the tribal community will expose their skills to the general public. In addition to that, workshop of various issues like Panchayats Act 1996 – its implementation, advantage to the tribal community & its drawbacks, reservation in politics & recruitment and Forest Rights Act 2006 will also be a part of this carnival. This carnival offers a state of deliberations on significant subjects that affect the tribal development. It will also have the widest exposure to the marketability of handmade tribal products like paintings, artifacts, textiles which has a catalytic effect on tribal livelihood.

What Is 'National Tribal Carnival'?

For the purpose of promoting the tribals, the "National Tribal Carnival" was conducted under the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The purpose of this carnival is to promote the cultural traditions with boosting tribalism & their cultural traditions. This carnival festival is a four-day event and the tribal community from various states take part in this event. The National Tribal Carnival scheme was started as a tribal festival by Narendra Modi at Delhi in Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on October 25, 2016.

Purpose Of National Tribal Festival

The main purpose of this festival is to spread the feeling of totality among the tribal community. The festival of National tribal carnival which was lasted for about four days is considered to be the famous tribal culture. To preserve & promote several aspects of tribal life connected with customs, skills, and tradition, this festival has been celebrated. About 1600 tribal artists and 8000 tribal representatives of UT/states have participated in the carnival.

Important Points On National Tribal Festival

Actually, the tribe is a legal post used for tribal communities in India. Scheduled Tribe post has been used in the Indian constitution. Most of the tribal people survive on the chief surface of the culture. These tribals, who are connected with their unique culture & primitive traits, avoid contacting a society. The prime reason is due to their socio-economic backwardness. Though tribal customs and tradition have been civilized, yet tribal people are still following their Indian culture. Efforts have been taken to boost the living standards of tribal people and to enhance their culture to general sense. With this aim, the first National Tribal Carnival will be established in New Delhi during February month to spread information regarding life and culture of the tribal society.

  • The ministry of tribal affairs declared the first national tribal carnival on 16th October 2015.
  • The Government of India, the ministry of tribal affairs has organized the first tribe carnival in New Delhi from 12th to 17th February 2016.

  • About 900 tribal and folk artists from various states like West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Odisha, Nagaland, Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Chattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, and Assam participated in it.
  • Maiden edition of the tribal festival displayed the rich diversity of tribal culture, painting, tribal medicine, dance, tribal food, music, painting, art and a special attraction-tribal cuisine.
  • The festival events were held at three different venues in Delhi that includes Central Park in Connaught Place, Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.
